Adult Developmental Activities program provides purposeful goal oriented activities for adults of any age with severe disabilities. Services often include significant assistance with personal care and hygiene needs. ADA programming offers a small staff to client ratio to provide for optimal care and supervision for clients. All services are intended to assist consumers reach their highest level of independence regarding personal, social, and daily living skills. Services are based on an individualized plan of care and can include services both at Futures UnLTD or in the community.
The ADA program operates Monday through Friday from 9a.m. to 4p.m. at Futures UnLTD in Austin, IN.
What trainings do Community Habilitation staff receive?
All staff receive extensive training on Protecting an Individuals Rights, Outcomes and Objectives, Providing a Healthy and Safe Environment to Individuals, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Emergency Drills and Preparation, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Individual Specific Training, and Transportation Safety.
What is the cost of services?
Services are generally paid for by a Medicaid Waiver or a Community Support Budget. Both of these are administered by the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities. Services are also available to families wanting to pay privately for services.
What activities do clients do during the day while in Community Habilitation?
Activities occur in both group settings and one on one with staff. Activities are based on client goals, and therefore are unique to the individual. Activities can include shopping, art projects, gardening, educational skills, games, visiting museums, parks, fairs, stranger danger, or other activities designed to increase independence and have a meaningful day.
Is transportation provided?
Transportation can be provided as part of a community integration activity.
Do I have to attend full time to participate in this program?
No. You are welcome to participate either full or part time.
